Starfish is designed to streamline communications, educational planning and intervention strategies. In addition to providing a vehicle for faculty to identify students who are at risk, Starfish is an academic networking and communications tool. The system facilitates the tracking of student data, including attendance records and performance, from the entire student population and within various sub-sets of that population. It utilizes an advanced early alert system of preprogrammed messages, including kudos, that instructors can send students and are available to advisors for review. It allows for referrals to available services on campus and tracks interaction between students and advisors regarding those referrals. Starfish provides real time information to students and advisors so that appropriate interventions can be implemented in a timely manner supporting student success and retention.
