Institutional procedures regarding admission and registration create roadblocks for our students. The Strategic Enrollment Management Team (SEMT), Orientation and the First Year Experience Program is helping to dismantle those roadblocks. The college is working on the following: new online application, new online Orientation with registration hosted by the divisions and lastly, we have a new virtual line system. Students can log into the computer and put themselves "in line" at financial aid and/or our other services. The system will text the student to let them know it is getting close to their appointment. The student then has around 15 mintues to arrive at the college.
Starting summer 2014, a Pre-Orientation Advising Project will be tested. The objective is to offer test preparation advice to the student before they take the placement test. Faculty will communicate clearly and succinctly how the placement test affects the students and various options will be explained to improve the outcome of the placement test. Faculty will be placed in Testing so that they can meet with the student before and after they take the Compass and/or ASSET placement test.
