Edmonds Community College has become an Achieving the Dream Network College again following several meetings between Edmonds President Dr. Jean Hernandez and ATD President & CEO Dr. Karen A. Stout. Dr. Hernandez said, "I was excited to see the direction Dr. Stout was taking Achieving the Dream and feel it is well aligned with our college's focus on removing barriers and increasing student success. Edmonds CC is excited to re-engage and join the great work occurring at ATD.”
Edmonds CC is strongly focused on collaborative efforts to create a framework for implementing degree pathways. Under Dr. Hernandez’ leadership, the college began exploring degree pathways in 2015 through readings and conversations among the Board of Trustees, administrators and the leadership of the Faculty Senate. In January 2017, ATD Leadership Coach Diane Troyer will facilitate a pathways seminar with the college’s faculty and instructional administrators. The college also plans to use the ICAT to examine its capacity to make the changes necessary to support pathways successfully and implement an intentional, effective student experience. President Hernandez has indicated that the college’s leadership team is looking at ways to use the capacity framework, including the use of data, faculty engagement, and strategic planning, to advance the structured pathways work.
