Dawit Teklu, Ph.D.

Higher Education Consultant

Dr. Teklu brings over 20 years of directly related community college institutional effectiveness experience to his role with ATD.  As a data coach, Dr. Teklu works with three community colleges in Alabama and Georgia.

Prior to joining ATD as a data coach, Dr. Teklu worked as the Dean of Institutional Research Assessment and Evaluation at Strayer University where he managed the University’s research, strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and student learning outcomes assessment functions. He also served as the University’s Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) with Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Dr. Teklu’s community college experience include working at Anne Arundel Community College for seven years as the Executive Director, Planning Research and Institutional Assessment  where he had had direct responsibility for the college’s institutional research, strategic planning and institutional effectiveness functions.

Dr. Teklu has also managed the Office of Institutional Research at Northern Virginia Community College where he started his higher education career. In addition to Northern Virginia community college, he has worked as the Director of Research at William Rainey Harper College.

Dr. Teklu is an active member of the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) where he serves on the board, and is Research & Development Panel Member of the National Post-Secondary Education Cooperative (NPEC) – IPEDS.

Dr. Teklu has served on several accreditation site visit teams for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

Education Background: Ph.D. in Public Affairs from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; M.S. in Planning from the University of Wisconsin, Madison; B.A. in Economics/Political Science, George Williams College.
