Allison Ray Akalonu is Associate Director of Data, Technology and Analytics at Achieving the Dream. In this role, Allison leads the adoption and administration of the Institutional Capacity Framework and Assessment Tool, which is used to assist institutions create a student-focused culture and increase student persistence and post-secondary credential attainment. Allison provides strategic leadership of the design and implementation of Achieving the Dream’s online learning community, ATD Connect, and serves as Blackboard System Administrator. Allison supports Achieving the Dream’s data and technology strategy and is responsible for the design, delivery, and evaluation of technical assistance and coaching services at network institutions.
Prior to joining Achieving the Dream, Allison was a consultant for Montgomery County Sister Cities where she led the nonprofit’s strategic planning, capacity building, and fundraising strategy for their work in Gondar, Ethiopia. Previously, she served as a Fellow for Exponent Philanthropy, with the mission to accelerate and scale impact of foundations with few or no staff, philanthropic families, and individual donors. Allison also served at the University of Maryland and the University of North Alabama in the offices of International Affairs, Student Services, and Resident Life. Allison is deeply committed to increasing access and success for all students and to leveraging data and technology to improve organizational effectiveness among nonprofit and higher-education institutions.
Allison earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and International Studies from the University of North Alabama. She also completed a Master of Arts in Public Policy from the University of Maryland with specializations in Nonprofit Management & Leadership and International Development.
