Michael Kim is Assistant Director of Programs and Policy at Achieving the Dream, Inc. In this role, Michael is responsible for advising ATD senior staff on strategic opportunities, assisting with and supporting policy related research, and supporting the management of ATD’s growing multi-million dollar re-granting program.
Prior to joining Achieving the Dream, Michael was an Associate at HCM Strategists focusing on healthcare policy and advocacy for the Precision Medicine Initiative, healthcare access, and variety of other healthcare issues. In this role, he provided strategic advice and research support to multiple clients, including the National Institutes of Health. He also performed legislative tracking and analysis for bills related to client’s subject matter such as, payday lending regulation, Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), and criminal justice reform.
Prior to HCM Strategists, Michael was an Associate at NVG, LLC working on Healthcare, Education, Immigration, and Labor issues. During his time at NVG, Michael helped to organize and manage a grassroots rally for a Supreme Court Case (Seblius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.), created and maintained a collation dealing with CMS proposal on future medical payments from liability settlements, and organized Capitol Hill visits and prepared clients for meetings with Members of Congress and their staff by breaking down and providing legislative issues that were specific to each client’s agenda. Michael has a strong commitment to both Education and Healthcare issues and making sure that access to quality education and healthcare is not be a privilege, but a right for all Americans.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
