John Heiman is the Staff Accountant, Special Programs at Achieving the Dream. In this role, John is responsible for the accounting and logistical coordination of a multi-million dollar sub-grant funding agreement.
Prior to joining Achieving the Dream, John was the Senior Accountant at the American Psychological Association. In this role, John coordinated the $9.27 million monthly and the $111.20 million year-end general ledger closings. Before moving over to the Senior Accountant position at APA he was also the Senior Budget Analyst. In this role, John prepared budget materials necessary for the annual $114.10 million APA budget process as well as assisted in the budget package review process to assure quality control and accuracy.
John also served as the Temporary Assistant Controller at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development where he monitored the processing of all accounts payable as well as prepared and reviewed required tax returns and state sales and use taxes as well. John was also the Interim Controller at Capitol Concierge, Inc. where he had daily oversight of all accounting and information functions. Prior to these positions John was the Owner/Business Manager of Eclipse Avenue, Inc. D.B.A. WireUSA. In this role, John established and operated five wireless retail stores with a staff of 20 including managers and salespeople.
John has a MBA in Accounting from the American University and a BA in Political Science from the College of Wooster.
