Paul Sechrist

Dr. Paul Sechrist is the President Emeritus (retired) of Oklahoma City Community College.

Paul Sechrist enjoyed a long career as a teacher, professor, and college administrator in the state of Oklahoma.  He most recently served as the President of Oklahoma City Community College, a position he held for nearly a decade.  He retired from OCCC in 2015.  In recognition of his distinguished leadership, Paul was the first president to be named President Emeritus.  Currently, Paul serves as a leadership coach for Achieving the Dream and as an adjunct professor of leadership at the University of Oklahoma.

Paul has held numerous leadership roles in state and national educational associations, including the College Board where he served on the Board of Trustees and as Chair of the Board.  His impact on education and his leadership has been widely recognized, including being named the Journal Record’s Most Admired CEO in Oklahoma, receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards from the national honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, and from the Dialogue Institute of the Southwest, receiving the National Award for Distinguished Service to the College Board, and most recently being inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame.

Paul holds a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Oklahoma and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Southern Nazarene University
