Cynthia Ferrell, Ph.D.

Director of Student Success Initiatives, Community College Leadership Program (CCLP) at The University of Texas at Austin

Cynthia Ferrell serves as the Director of Student Success Initiatives for CCLP.  She is responsible for multiple national initiatives with high visibility and impact such as the CCLP’s Houston Endowment-funded Gulf Coast Partners Achieving Student Success Initiative, the Board of Trustees Institute, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Developmental Education Initiative and Governance Institute for Student Success, and Achieving the Dream.

Ferrell was formerly the Director of the Texas Developmental Education State Policy Initiative, a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded project in support of the Texas Association of Community Colleges (TACC) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) efforts in statewide scaling of successful innovations and establishing the state and institutional policy supports needed to improve developmental student success.  Prior to these positions, she served as TACC’s Achieving the Dream Developmental Education Consultant to the 81st and 82nd Texas Legislative sessions, THECB’s Program Director for Developmental Education, the Lone Star College’s District Director of Developmental Studies, and Student Success Course Instructor. 

She holds a B.A. from Baptist Bible College, a M.Ed. from Drury University, and Ph.D. in educational administration from the Community College Leadership Program at The University of Texas at Austin.
