Dr. Jean Goodnow was president of Delta College, located in the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan, from 2005 to 2021. She is a board member of the League for Innovation in the Community College, where she served as board chair in 2014, and is a member of the STEM Higher Education Council. Dr. Goodnow previously served on the board of the American Association of Community Colleges and on its Sustainability Task Force and Commission on Diversity, Inclusion & Equity.
Dr. Goodnow received Second Nature’s first annual Climate Leadership Award for Outstanding Individual Climate Leadership, the Shirley Gordon Phi Theta Kappa National Award, and the Community College Alliance Leadership Award. Delta College’s Black Faculty & Staff selected her to receive The Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award, and in 2013, the Saginaw County Branch of the NAACP paid special tribute to Dr. Goodnow for her lifetime achievement in higher education and community outreach. She also received a Governance Award from Delta College’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors. In October 2018, Dr. Goodnow traveled to France to represent the United States and Delta College as a Fulbright Scholar.
