After serving as communication studies faculty at community colleges and universities for 24 years, Dr. Angela Hughes currently serves is the assistant vice president of academic affairs for University Parallel at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her work includes leading college-wide initiatives and opportunities in academic and student services, accreditation, institutional effectiveness, and assessment. She is currently the project manager of the Reimagining the Community College grant, which brings a career focus to the community college student experience. Dr. Hughes’ educational leadership philosophy is based on transparency and integrity, service and collaboration, proactive and strengths-based approaches, and a focus on providing opportunities to students. She believes that every student has the potential to succeed and that education can be transformational for individuals and communities because she has seen and experienced it.
