Dr. Mark
Figueroa

Coach

Dr. Mark Figueroa currently serves as the vice president for planning and development at Moreno Valley College in California. In this role, he oversees guided pathways, institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, marketing, and grants. His areas of expertise include institutional research, strategic planning, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), student access and success, quantitative and qualitative research methods, student affairs administration, program evaluation, and assessment.

Dr. Figueroa has also held faculty appointments at his past institutions, most recently at Lewis & Clark College, where he was a founding faculty member and program director for the student affairs administration program in the Educational Leadership department. He also served as an assistant defensive coach for the college’s football team for nine years.

Dr. Figueroa has served as an ATDcCoach since 2006. He has worked with over 20 colleges, mostly MSIs, including three tribal colleges, across nine states. He also serves as an equity coach for ATD.

A proud child of the hip hop generation, he brings the framework of that culture — improvisation, creativity, and innovation — to his work in higher education, all aspects he feels are necessary to move higher education into its next phase.
