Cuyahoga Community College President Dr. Alex Johnson Brings Decades of Leadership Experience to Achieving the Dream’s Board of Directors

SILVER SPRING, MD (May 5, 2017) – Dr. Karen A. Stout, President and CEO of Achieving the Dream, today announced Dr. Alex Johnson, President of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), has joined ATD’s Board of Directors.

“Dr. Johnson’s extensive experience leading community colleges, his commitment to affordable access to higher education, and his track record of strengthening student success make him an outstanding addition to the Board of Achieving the Dream,” Dr. Stout said. “We feel fortunate that Dr. Johnson will be helping to guide ATD as we begin to focus more on students’ economic mobility and opportunity.”

Dr. Johnson has been Tri-C’s president since July 2013. During his tenure, he has led the College to record numbers of graduates and ensured that Tri-C continued to keep a high-quality community college education available to residents of the Cleveland area. Dr. Johnson served as president of Tri-C’s Metropolitan Campus in Cleveland from 1993 to 2003. He also served as chancellor of Delgado Community College in New Orleans and president of the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh.

“Tri-C has been an Achieving the Dream participant and Leader College for more than a decade,” Dr. Johnson said. “The organization has helped us and other two-year institutions build pathways to success in higher education through hands-on work that improved student outcomes. I am honored to be selected as a member of its Board of Directors.”
