Innovation & Advocacy to Move the Field Forward


We’re actively working to move the field forward by exploring new ideas and developing solutions in response to pressing challenges. Our thoughtfully designed research and innovation programs inform and enhance both the wider field and the Transformation work within the colleges we partner with.

Every Learner Everywhere

ATD is part of a network of 12 higher education and digital learning groups that help institutions use new technology to innovate teaching and learning, empower instructors, and improve student outcomes.

We are actively exploring how the adoption and implementation of open educational resources (OER) affect equity, access, and the student experience in higher education.

College leaders must be equipped with the right tools and knowledge to understand, dissect, and rebuild systems and policies that will better meet students where they are and support them on their journeys. At Achieving the Dream, we work to train and coach leaders in the field, so they can holistically move their institutions forward.

Racial Equity Leadership Academy

The growing movement for racial equality has reinforced the urgency for our college leaders to be equipped with the tools they need to dismantle structures and policies that serve as barriers for racially minoritized students.

Community College Women Succeed

Launched in 2019, Community College Women Succeed (CCWS) is an initiative to identify and promote effective strategies that help adult women students, particularly student mothers, succeed in college.

Prioritizing Adult Community College Enrollment (PACCE)

The PACCE initiative supports 20 community colleges in scaling innovative approaches to reaching and enrolling learners aged 25+.
