About Dyersburg State Community College

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is a learner-centered institution, which serves seven rural counties with below average levels of educational attainment and per capita income. DSCC offers associate degree and certificate programs to prepare students for the workforce and for transfer to a four-year institution. Nursing, EMT/paramedic, business and general transfer studies are the primary academic programs of focus. The average age of students is 22 with 66 percent of all students being female. The majority of DSCC students are low-income, first generation college students who are in need of at least one learning support course before they are ready for college-level work. Public service activities include, but are not limited to, continuing education, workforce services in partnership with the Northwest TN Workforce Board, Upward Bound, the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, and the Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance.
