Dr. Chris Calienes has spent more than half of his career in community colleges serving in several roles. He is currently dean for institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, having previously served as director of institutional research at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY. Prior to that, he held leadership roles in institutional research and academic and AES assessment during his 13 years at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY. In all his roles leading up to his current position in DEI, Chris has always placed equity and social justice at the center of all of his efforts. Additional research and professional interests include strategic planning, accreditation, social geography, indigenous resistance movements, and maps. Originally from Lima, Peru, he currently resides in Providence, RI with his husband.
