As Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) chancellor, Dr. Christine Johnson is charged with leading a complex district that spans six counties over a 12,300-square-mile area focused on serving urban, suburban, and rural students’ needs for access to quality education and workforce preparedness. As a first generation student, she is passionate and deeply committed to elevating students to reach their potential. Dr. Johnson also serves on the Board of Trustees for Gonzaga University, Washington STEM, Greater Spokane, Inc., Spokane Workforce Council, and WA STEM Alliance and serves as president of WACTC (Washington Association of Community & Technical Colleges).
At the national level, Dr. Johnson’s service includes Center for Adult & Experiential Learning (CAEL) Advisory Board, South Carolina’s Advanced Technology Education advisory member on Mentor Connect for HSI’s, and numerous other organizations.
Dr. Johnson began her career in education as a high school teacher and has served for more than 40 years in teaching, administration, leadership and policy development roles.
