Dr. Kellie McCants-Price currently serves as the chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer (CDEIO) at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). Prior to assuming her current role at the college, she was an award-winning tenured psychology faculty member at AACC from 2014 until 2023. She is a racial equity mentor for the Racial Equity Leadership Academy (RELA), a signature initiative for Achieving the Dream (ATD). She also serves as a coach for ATD.
Dr. McCants-Price is a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practitioner and social justice warrior. One of her passions is ensuring that all — especially those historically excluded — find a seat and amplify their voices at the table in higher education and community health settings. She was awarded the 2019 AACC IDEAL Faculty Equity Champion and the 2019 AACC Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Zeitgeist awards for her efforts to increase opportunities for inclusive excellence at AACC and in the surrounding community. Dr. McCants-Price was recognized by Anne Arundel County, Maryland, in 2024 with the Michelle Obama Award, which recognizes women who live or work in the county and who support the county’s efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also serves as a member of the equity subcommittee for the redevelopment of Crownsville Memorial Hospital (formerly known as Maryland Hospital for the Negro Insane, the only mental hospital that accepted Black patients for most of the 20th century).
Dr. McCants-Price is an admitted pop culture and social media enthusiast. As a faculty member, she leveraged her interests in all things social media to engage in timely, but sometimes difficult, class discussions with her students about mental health, growth and development, sex, gender, and sexuality and the social lived experiences of race, socioeconomic status, immigration status, religion, and intersectionality. She continues to use those resources to help stimulate lively and impactful discussions to promote a sense of inclusion, justice, and belonging for the students, faculty, and staff at AACC and beyond.
Dr. McCants-Price is a mother and wife and a proud graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County and was one of the first women admitted to the esteemed Meyerhoff Scholarship Program. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in child clinical/pediatric psychology from The Ohio State University. She has also earned certificates in diversity and inclusion in the workplace and ethical and inclusive leadership from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business.
