Dr. Kellie McCants-Price is the interim chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) and has been an AACC faculty member since 2014. Her commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, antiracism, and accessibility is evident in nearly two decades of work in higher education and the K-12 system in Maryland and Washington, DC, and in community mental health settings as a child psychologist. One of Dr. McCants-Price’s passions is ensuring that all – especially those historically excluded – find a seat and amplify their voices at the table in higher education and community health settings. She was awarded the 2019 AACC IDEAL Faculty Equity Champion and the 2018-2019 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Zeitgeist Award for her efforts to increase opportunities for inclusive excellence at AACC and in the surrounding community. She led AACC’s Racial Equity Leadership Academy team, which was tasked with improving campus climate and retention for minoritized employees through mentorship from the Achieving the Dream Foundation and the University of Southern California (USC) Race and Equity Center. One of her missions is to make any space in which she works an environment that moves beyond inclusion to center belonging, especially for those most marginalized by society.
