Dr. Kelly D. Smith is the founder of AEWAS Consulting, which guides individuals, organizations, and communities through data-informed change processes to empower equity and social mobility. She retired as a senior research analyst in planning and research at Central Piedmont Community College, where her work focused on equity and student success. As part of her work at Central Piedmont, she collaborated with the Parr Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence to develop data literacy training for faculty and staff.
Dr. Smith is a research associate with the Collins Center for Public Management and the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where she works with local municipalities on projects related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism. She is a lecturer for the data analytics master’s program at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina, a SAS® programmer for the UNC School of Arts, and serves on the Data and Research Oversight Committee for the Charlotte Regional Data Trust, a research initiative of the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute.
