Dr. Mary Spilde held various positions in community colleges culminating in serving Lane Community College as President for 16 years. She is a frequent presenter, author, and spokesperson; she has served on several committees and boards at the national level, including as AACC board chair and as a member of the American Association of Colleges and Universities and League for Innovation in the Community College boards. She was a member of the Oregon Education Investment Board and served as Chair.
Dr. Spilde received the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) national CEO of the Year award in 2011 and AACC’s Leadership Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2019. In 2012, she received the Woman of the Year Award from AAWCC and the U.S. Green Building Council President’s Award. She was named Eugene’s First Citizen for her work in catalyzing downtown revitalization.
Since she retired from the presidency in 2017, Dr. Spilde has consulted with colleges and nonprofits to develop emotionally intelligent and results-oriented organizations. She is a Leadership Coach for ATD and a certified executive coach working with CEOs across the country. She facilitates the League‘s Executive Leadership Institute and AACC’s New CEO Academy and conducts the ACCT board retreat.
