Dr. Stephanie Whalen started working as an adjunct faculty member in adult education in 2005 and has served as full-time faculty teaching English and college success courses since 2008. In 2017, She became chair of the academy for teaching excellence at William Rainey Harper College. In her role as co-leader of a team that supports faculty onboarding and professional learning, she co-developed a robust program including Communities of Practice, Level-II Adjunct Faculty Engagement, Small Group Instructional Feedback, and an array of inclusive teaching resources such as the Applying Equity Matrix, Enacting Equity Course Review, and the Equity Teaching Academy.
Dr. Whalen has extensive experience designing, implementing, and assessing faculty-led programs such as Building Capacity for Hyflex and Redesign for Equity grant programs and student-led programs such as the Embedded Peer in-Class Coach program.
Stephanie enjoys working with faculty and administrative co-leads and their teaching and learning teams to conceptualize, plan, implement, assess, evaluate, and refine programs that lead to improved student experience and successful outcomes.
