Karen Colbert currently serves as the general education department chair and lead math faculty at Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College on the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Reservation. In her current role, she leads the tribal college in developing a culturally contextualized math curriculum centered in Indigenous Epistemologies.
Karen has a background in data science and over 10 years of experience in higher education with research focused in bridging equity barriers for BIPOC in STEM for both students and faculty. She is completing her PhD research in Computational Science and Engineering focused on Inclusalytics, a dynamic and data-driven framework for measuring impact of DEI initiatives.
