Through a structured, data-informed process, the Foundations of Transformation experience equips colleges to move from intention to institution-wide action for student success. Institutions work closely with ATD coaches to assess capacity, analyze data, and develop a tailored action plan that aligns people, priorities, and resources. By the end of the three-year experience, colleges have strengthened the infrastructure, leadership, and culture needed to sustain measurable gains in student outcomes and the momentum to scale success.

How It Works
Foundations of Transformation is the entry point for first-time ATD Network colleges. It begins at the Kickoff Institute, where colleges meet their coaches, analyze data, and identify priorities. In year 1, institutions complete a comprehensive assessment using ATD’s Institutional Capacity Assessment Tool (ICAT), and results are explored in a Capacity Café, an all-college event highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement. Colleges will also receive three campus visits from their coaches and develop an action plan grounded in student experience and evidence. In years 2 and 3, institutions implement their plan, receiving monthly coaching and additional site visits, track progress, and build capacity for sustainable, student-centered transformation.
